The Malaysian Medical Association is the largest association of doctors in Malaysia. We have been in existence for nearly 50 years and have branches in every State and Federal Territory. Membership is voluntary and is open to all registered medical practitioners in Malaysia. Other categories of membership include student membership, associate membership and overseas membership. At present the membership is almost equally divided between doctors in the private and public sectors.

![]() Continuing Medical Education - Guideline
Guidelines approved by the branch committee meeting held on 1st October 2002
Pharmaceutical companies organizing CME talks through MMA, Malacca are requested to comply with the following guidelines:
(i) The drug company shall decide on the topic, venue and speaker/s of the talk. The venue should preferably be in town centre, to enable doctors who are attending to return to their hospitals in case of an emergency.
(ii) The Chairman of the talk MUST be a MMA member practicing in Malacca. The Chairman of the talk should be chosen on a rotational basis.
(iii) The drug company shall meet the cost incurred in printing invitations, hotel expenses, the dinner, traveling, honorarium and accommodation for the speaker/s.
(iv) The invitation card must have the words “Malaysian Medical Association, Melaka Branch”. The programme should also include the following:
MMA Members : Free (Bottom Left Hand Corner)
Non MMA Members : RM20.00 / head (Bottom Right Hand Corner)
(v) MMA Malacca will post the invitation cards to its members. Invitations cards are to be sent to MMA Malacca at least TWO WEEKS before the date of the talk. A secretarial fee of RM. 500.00 shall be paid to MMA Malacca for this purpose. [Advance payment]
(vi) It is preferable that those attending the talks should be MMA Members. If the talk is held in collaboration with another professional body then their members can attend the talk even though they are not members of MMA. Host drug companies may also invite members of the Allied Health Professions who are not members of MMA with prior notification and approval from MMA Malacca. However, a fee of RM20.00 / head is applicable for any non MMA member attending the CME talk. The fee must be paid on or before the said talk. Payments can be made by cash or cheque (Malaysian Medical Association, Melaka Branch).
(vii) MMA Malacca does not guarantee the number of members who are likely to attend the talks. [Host drug companies are encouraged to remind doctors of their up coming talk to ensure a healthy attendance].
(viii) MMA Malacca discourages companies from inviting doctors or persons who are not MMA members.
(ix) The programme for all the talks will be standardized as follows:-
(1 hour talk) 7.30 PM (1930H) Registration 8.00 PM (2000H) Introduction of Chairperson 8.05 PM (2005H) Opening address by Chairperson 8.10 PM (2010H) Talk 8.50 PM (2050H) Q & A 9.00 PM (2100H) Closing Remarks by Chairperson Dinner All sessions must begin at 8 PM and end before 9.15 PM
(x) The backdrop in the venue hall must have the following: -
1. MMA Malacca Branch [Wordings] 2. MMA logo 3. Name of Chairperson 4. Name of Speaker 5. Topic 6. Sponsoring Pharmaceutical Company [Name ± Logo]
